As we said on Volume 1 we would come back in the summer / autumn and check what the two Agriculture contractor are up to.
Ivan McGaw is starting to cut the silage with his John Deere silage cutter, a 6850, and is gathering it all up into rows with a Krone silage rake and John Deere. This enables them to come back and gather it all up and take it back in his trailers to the silo pit where it is pushed up with a John Deere 7820 front loader and then rolled time and time again.
We also call at Mullans farm in Ringsend, Garvagh, Co. Derry where they are also working at the silage.
Then we move down to the disused airfield at Toomebridge Co. Antrim where the McCoys, the local agriculture contractors from Moneyglass are trying out a new McHale Fusion round baler with their big John Deere tractor.Up the road a few miles near Magherafelt, we see the progress that the Pattersons have made. They are ready to cut the maize shortly and you will see the rough conditions that they have to work through, we then go back to Ivan McGaw’s filed in Tandragee to see the cutting of the wheat with his big John Deere 9560 combine with a 18 foot cut. One of the biggest combines around the north of Ireland.
