This new DVD starts of with a visit to Harry Ferguson’s birthplace at Growell near to Dromore and Banbridge in Co. Down and after a brief stop we call at a local ploughing event to see some old Ferguson tractors in action.
Leaving there we call at John McElderrys in Ballymoney Co. Antrim on of the biggest Massey Ferguson dealers in the country and see them get a new Fendt ready for the start of the new grass season, and watch it in action with its new owner’s at Sloan Contracts from Co. Antrim. Then we follow them to the old Shanes Castle Estate between Randalstown and Antrim on the shores of Lough Neagh, bringing in the grass with there team of Massey’s.
Then after travelling down the country to meet Pat White from Fethard Co. Tipperary and see him plough and sow 850 acres of winter wheat. He is a Harry Ferguson fanatic, so much so that he has painted one of his small aeroplanes in the colours of the great man himself for the centenary in 2009 and one of the jobs that he has to do is to bring some sandwiches out to the field for the workers in the small Tiger Cub Aeroplane.
This taken with some new machinery footage from some of the biggest Massey Ferguson equipment working on farms from 1000 to 4900 acres in Elgin and St. Fergus and other places in Scotland.
Heading on back to Ireland, we head down south to Cork, where we meet up with the Tait family who have ten Massey’s all working around the farm, bringing in the crop of beans from the fields that they have just harvested and and bringing the crop back to the yard Where the beans will be dried in special trailers for the job.
